15. Palo Alto High School, Palo Alto, CA

Palo Alto High School is a public school in Palo Alto, California. It has 1,944 students in grades 9-12. Overall, it is a great school with many great opportunities due to the competitive and high achieving environment at the school. The opportunities vary from sports to journalism to just academics in general.

Being across the street from Stanford also affords a lot of opportunities for kids from Palo Alto High School, such as access to world class athletic facilities and research internships. Academics are taken very seriously. Students are pushed to do their best. The workload is hard but the overall education is good.

Teachers are highly qualified and extremely dedicated. They always provide extra support when approached with a problem or question. Most of the teachers sincerely care about the students. Overall, the teachers are very knowledgeable and passionate about the subjects they teach.

There is always an extracurricular activity offered that will be the right fit for any student. A big proportion of the student body participate in multiple extracurricular activities at school. This includes ASB, sports, publications, debate, community service clubs, etc.

These activities range in commitment in terms of time and effort as well as in competitiveness. Many groups are award-winning such as the journalism program and the debate teams, and some are just intended for fun such as clubs based purely on interest.
